Fall and spring are the best times to visit Kuyucuk. Especially, in April, May and partially June, combining pretty good weather with glorious countryside, natural beauty is at the peak. At this time of the year, the lake is clear blue and its surroundings are ornamented with wild flowers of thousands of different colors. The season is the most favorable to view thousands of waterbirds. In spring, you may view both waterbirds and breeding birds. Migratory waterbirds and raptors can be viewed in the fall better. Especially, early morning and evening hours, the lake and its surrounding present spectacular views. At the end of spring and at the beginning of summer, it is possible to catch up beautiful compositions of human and nature, due to agricultural activities of Kuyucuk residents. In winter, the lake gets frozen from mid-December till mid-March. Kuyucuk and its surroundings are rich in terms of wildlife. Winter is the best time to picture wolves and foxes. Besides, it is common to view some bird species of winter such as snowfinch, shorelark, mallards and merlins.

In Spring and Fall, bird ringing (banding), which is conducted only in a few stations in Turkey, can be experienced in lake Kuyucuk. Within Kars-Iğdır Biodiversity Project, scientists and undergraduate students from Turkey and abroad gather at Kuyucuk to conduct bird ringing (banding) activities. The activities are carried out in the small hut by the north side of the lake. For more information see
